Everything you wanted to know about International Humanitarian Law and how to moot it (but were afraid to ask)

Although we can help you with a wide array of legal issues at StevensVuaran Lawyers, it is fair to say that our International Humanitarian Law (IHL) practice is not enormous.   In that field of law, the people you want to speak to are the Australian Red Cross (as part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement).

So, when the Australian Red Cross invites you to contribute to the first Australian Red Cross Handbook on International Humanitarian Law Mooting (as Angus Macinnis was recently invited to do) that is quite an honour.  The Handbook comprises introductory readings on IHL and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.  The 22 chapters include discussions on the sources and principles of IHL, insights into the personal and professional experiences of Australians working in the field, a glimpse into a range of contemporary IHL issues, and tips, tricks and advice for students looking to compete in an IHL moot competition.  Angus’ chapters cover “Preparing written submissions” and “Preparing for your day in court”.
