“Worth knowing” on tour – 2023 CPD tour dates

Normally we call these round-ups of the CPD seminars that Angus Macinnis is presenting during the February/March CPD high season our “tour dates” posts.  However, as the “Zoom and gloom” hangover of the pandemic lingers on, it turns out that three of the four sessions Angus is presenting this year are webinars which are online only.  This is good news if you want to attend one of these seminars from outside Sydney, but it does really call into question whether we can call these “tour dates” if Angus won’t be traveling any further than to the next room.

With that said, here are the tour/non-tour dates:

On the morning of 24 February 2023, he is speaking for the Commercial Law Association  on “Discrimination and harassment in the legal workplace – the professional conduct consequences of lawyers ‘behaving badly'”.  This seminar will satisfy the requirements for the compulsory Practice Management and Business Skills unit, and is in-person at the State Library of New South Wales –  you can find more details, and book, here

At lunchtime on 28 February 2023, he is presenting a webinar for Legalwise on “Drafting the parts of a contract that no-one ever reads” looking at the role of boilerplate, recitals, and dispute resolution clauses.  This is online only (and satisfies the requirements for the compulsory Professional Skills unit) – you can find more details, and book, here

On the afternoon of 1 March 2023, he is presenting a webinar for Legalwise on “‘Be it ever so ethical, there’s no place like home’ – the professional conduct consequences arising from remote working”, which as the name suggests satisfies the requirements for the compulsory Ethics and Professional Responsibility unit.  You can find more details, and book, here

On the afternoon of 14 March 2023, he is presenting a webinar for The College of Law on “Drafting and enforcing midnight clauses”, which is about choice of law, choice of forum, and alternative dispute resolution clauses.  This one also satisfies the requirements of the compulsory Professional Skills unit, and you can find more details, and book, here

Angus also provides in-house training for law firms who want a “get it done” solution for their solicitors’ CPD needs in relation to the compulsory “Ethics and Professional Responsibility”, “Practice Management and Business Skills”, and “Professional Skills” points.  A firm (or other organisation) doesn’t need to have a lot of lawyers before it is more cost-effective for me to come and speak to you than to send all your lawyers to separate seminars (and firms can even invite their in-house counsel clients along, because they need CPD too). Doing CPD training in-house also makes your compliance easier, so if you would like to talk about what that might look like for your firm or organisation, contact Angus Macinnis
